How we approach woodland management
Most woodland management is about preserving the life of the woodland, though it can also be for timber or woodworking. Selectively thinning sections and controlling pests achieves results quickly.
Creating and managing pathways improves wildlife corridors and can make the woodland more accessible to the public — encouraging good management and promoting our natural woodlands.
Common woodland species include hazel and chestnut for coppicing, and oak, beech or ash for firewood. Coppicing lets light reach the woodland floor, supporting plants such as bluebells and snowdrops, which in turn attract insects such as butterflies — with a huge impact on the surrounding ecosystem.
Felling licences
Felling growing trees can require a felling licence from the Forestry Commission — typically where more than 5 cubic metres of timber is felled in a calendar quarter — though there are exemptions, including for gardens. We'll help you check before work is planned.

Kind words from customers.
“Tom has looked after our large oaks and willows for several years now. He treats them as if they were his own, only doing work which is necessary for either their health or good shape. He is a pleasure to have around!”
